Long Story Short School of Writing Celebrates 1st Anniversary
In October, 2005, the Long Story Short School of Writing was born. Now, one year later, hundreds of students have studied a variety of writing subjects under thirty instructors with rave reviews.
(PRWEB) October 4, 2006 -- With the overwhelming cooperation and enthusiasm of its talented and seasoned instructors, Long Story Short School of Writing opened its doors and began classes one year ago on October 5, 2005. The response has been terrific with hundreds of students registering for classes, which run perpetually and cover every aspect of the craft from fiction to poetry to novel writing.
Class sizes vary and are held on the Internet. Students post their own assignments, and read and critique one another's on an interactive message board while working closely with an instructor. There will also be intensive weekend workshops available along with supplemental mentoring for a nominal fee. Tuitions are moderate, ranging from $45-150 per class, depending on the length and curriculum. Long Story Short School of Writing offers a variety of course lengths, from single lessons to ten-week courses, along with some full year, once-a-month classes.
The school offers a Free Course Sampler with the lesson changing twice each month. The sampler will invite writers to take the challenge of the free class, post their response on an interactive message board, critique, meet other writers and possibly win a free book for submitting the best writing.
The Directors of the Long Story Short School of Writing are dedicated to providing only the best in instruction and course content.
What if....you could change the world just by reading, writing, and creating 3D art for fantasy fiction? Mernac is a new site dedicated to such a daunting and wonderful task. One of the many goals is to provide a place where writers and artists can show off their talent and enter totally free contests! Did I mention cash prizes? Most of the contests are viewer rated, so your opinion definately counts.

One-Day Workshop – Part One of the Series $125
How do we begin to tell the stories of our lives? How do we convey a truth that is inclusive of and yet goes beyond the specificity of facts and dates? Are we aiming for autobiographical accuracy, or would we rather use our experience and history in a way that transforms our stories into fiction? This workshop journeys in both directions to develop ways to powerfully use our lives as the stuff of writing.
Through a series of writing explorations, memory and sensory exercises, focused and open-ended freewrites, and oral storytelling, we will draw on what is deepest in each participant to advance the process of writing the stories we have always wanted to write. We will work to discover our narrators. Will a persona---a kind of writer’s mask—be of use in freeing up what we want to tell and conveying it powerfully? We will explore in writing some of the many voices that are ours, and begin to utilize autobiographical material in ways that grow out of our deepest struggles, knowledge and yearnings.

Free E-Books Given for Donations to IMAGINATION LIBRARY
Authors Harry & Elizabeth Lawrence, in cooperation with The Romance Club, are giving away a free copy of the new E-Book edition of IT HAD TO BE US to anyone who gives a donation to the IMAGINATION LIBRARY.
Pueblo, CO (PRWEB) February 16, 2006 -- Authors Harry & Elizabeth Lawrence, in cooperation with The Romance Club, are giving away a free copy of the new E-Book edition of IT HAD TO BE US to anyone who gives a donation of any amount to the IMAGINATION LIBRARY. The Lawrences' romantic memoir describes how they reunited after being divorced and estranged for nearly two decades. According to Don Grady, host of the popular Louisiana Live radio show, "IT HAD TO BE US is the Valentine book of the year.”
“My husband and I are pleased to help raise funds for such a worthy cause,” Elizabeth says. The IMAGINATION LIBRARY is a children's literacy program that brings free books to children each month from birth to 5 years old. Every month, children enrolled in the IMAGINATION LIBRARY receive a free book in their mailbox. This promotes both a love of books in the children, as well as giving parents an opportunity to spend some extra special time with their children. Not only is this program successful, but it is spreading quickly across the country. Over 500 communities have enrolled, and more than 200,000 books are delivered to children every month.
Donations will help bring more books to more children. And best of all, 100% of the money the Imagination Library receives goes to providing books for children, because all the administrative expenses are paid for by the Dollywood Foundation. Donations can be made by check or credit card.

Jayne Jaudon Ferrer is delighted to announce the release of her fourth gift book for women, She of the Rib: Women Unwrapped, available now wherever books are sold.
Yes, like Jayne's previous books, it's poetry--but there's nothing dull or obscure in these pages. This poetry is about girlfriend getaways, discord in the universe, aching joints, love when you're old enough to know better, and the restorative powers of Earl Grey tea and chocolate (not necessarily in that order!). She of the Rib is a terrific choice for book clubs who want to sink their teeth into provocative topics such as abusive relationships, elder care, maintaining a positive self-image in a youth and beauty-obsessed culture, and aging gracefully (or not!).
Jayne will be promoting She of the Rib this summer; for a list of appearances, or to arrange at event, visit www.jaynejaudonferrer.com.
